I wanted to come up with a unique Twilight inspired cake. I did lots of research in a search for a design that could inspire me to do some justice to Twilight fans everywhere. From the start I wanted to give Madison something different that you can't just walk into the store and buy. This is what I came up with. Did I succeed or epic fail?

I love Italian buttercream! In fact I was becoming quite the expert. However, comma, I have met my match: Pasteurized egg whites! They are my arch enemy! They take FOREVER to whip and get peaks to allow me to add my tons of delicious butter. Well after much a whipping (thanks to my KitchenAid, shout out to the parents!) Finally, I got peaks!
It turned out just as delicious as it should. I used Joshua John Russell's recipe and it never fails. A couple of tweaks had to be made for the pasteurization (thanks to eHow.com) and behold, wonderful light and fluffy and butterrific buttercream! Now for my design for an 11 year old Twigh-Heart! Yaay! My first leopard print fondant cake! It was so exciting making this cake! Red Velvet and Cream cheese frosting covered with marshmallow fondant. Yum! I hope it made the day of a very sweet 16-year-old!!! And they loved it!!! I am so happy! I hope I never lose this feeling of exhilaration to please my clients! Sometimes people forget the love that got them into this business. I am working on a cake for a sweet 16. The challenge is leopard print. There are so many variations of leopards out there, who is to say I am following the right one? Lol! I am certainly having fun!
Homemade Pink Marshmallow fondant, Check. Handmade Giant Bow, Check. A hundred little balls for the cake trim, check (100 times). Now for the hand-painted leopard spots on the cake after covering it with fondant. Almost Check and Check. I will certainly post the picture when the mission is complete. Don't Call it a Comeback... So I have blogged in the past and was very successful for about 6 months. O.k. maybe not that long. I have so many interests and such a passion for helping others that I just want to tell the world. However, sometimes life catches up to you and it's hard to make time for yourself.
Well this is a little piece of time for myself, sharing a little piece of me with you. I am on this great journey of making great cakes and doing great things with them. My vision is to be able to be able to one day to have a bakery know for freshness and affordability at the same time. Is it possible? We will see. I'd like to see my dream impact more than just the people in my little world. I want to heal the world with cakes! Being able to sponsor non-profits and help wherever I can is a big dream but I think I can by Giving Back, One Cake at a Time! |
Robin B, that's me!
I love cake and I love to bake! It could be a blessing or a curse. I dream of making a difference in the world in someway, while leaving a sense of accomplishment that my family could be proud of. Archives
